Bush's Education Law or, what I like to call, more bs...

Sadly, I found out too late, that the link I used is only good for that day. Otherwise, it comes up "page not found". Ahhh well...I shall have to locate other links or just cut and paste, unless that's a violation of some copyright law or some other such thing.

iWon News

Case in point, regarding the "No child left behind" initiative I referred to in my last entry, click on the iWon news link under the title of this post.

Disregard this post as per the same reason in the next entry. *siiiigh* My stupidity knows no bounds.

Financial Aid Abroad and other quasi related ramblings...

Ahhh, where to begin? Iraq? Iran? Iramble...at the risk of seeming inhumane and uncaring, I shall proceed. My simplified view, we were terrorized by citizens of Iraq, they admitted this, we receive no financial assistance from them for great devastation to property, families, places of businesses. Ok, fine. WE "teach them not to screw with us", we not only feed their people who are affected by our attacks and their OWN attacks but we are now responsible for rebuilding their communities AND we buy them cars so they can attend their place of worship? Hmmm...

Iran has a horrible earthquake. I feel terrible for their people. However, again at the risk of seeming dreadfully callous, what about California where not only earthquake but fire and then mudslides resulting from the lack of trees to guard from soil erosion from torrential downpours ensue. So, where does our money go? To US territory and US peoples who pay taxes and have lived here most of their lives, if not all of their lives? NO, let's send the money to IRAN where Bush has deemed them some relative of Satan and they have viewed us likewise. Much better.

Hey, while we're at it, let's see where else our money can go. Who needs to educate and provide health insurance to our children. So what if there are people in the USA who are unemployed, not by choice but due to the economy. Who gives a damn if there are hungry people here with no roof over their heads? Let's forget about OUR OWN people and give to those who HATE the USA!!

And that brings me to things like the organizations who pull begathons on T.V. For only so many cents per day YOU can sponsor a child...blahblahblah...hello? how about sponsoring a child in your own backyard FIRST!? What happened to taking care of our own? Nahhh, let's just do more budget cuts for our people first so we can support other countries instead.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for helping others. It's just that we really do have enough to do on our own soil before we try to solve everyone else's problems. We have "no child left behind" policies and yet educational spending is cut every chance the government gets to do so and then some. So we're promoting those kids who aren't ready to make what happen? We previously had ditched "social promotions" and now we've taken two steps back with this crap. Then, the standards for graduating High School are raised. Erm...is it just me or is that counter productive to move on kids that aren't ready and then make them pass more difficult tests?

I won't even get into what's happening with the staff in the educational world...not yet anyway. I'll save THAT for another day.
